the Gunnery is O P E N

The Gunnery is officially O P E N.

The call to arms had been sounded.

Across the country, farmers straightened from their labor of love in the fields, the women paused in their daily herding of the flocks and turned their attention towards the direction from whence the sound came. Their eyes staring afar off, as though they could see something in the distant skies.

Again, the horn blasted, and there was no doubt this time, if there were any before. The as all able-bodied men and women, young and old are seen heading to the gunnery. Field implements were hurriedly stored in the toolsheds. Parents hurriedly hug their children, kisses exchanged with their aged parents, brushing tenderly at their moist eyes before they made their way with all haste to prepare themselves for whatever the day may bring...

The time has come, to defend all that they held dear.

All the days of their lives, they had toughened themselves, working in the fields through rain and shine. Their tanned limbs with healthy skin stretched taunt over their muscled form were a testimony to years of diligent service in the fields, planting and harvesting.

All who arrived at the gunnery took up their gear, swiftly donning their armor and drawing arms which they are suited for and proficient in. Those who have readied themselves hastened to help their peers. In a short span of hours, the able-bodied populace of the Kingdom were in their ranks, standing shoulder to shoulder, their well-polished armor gleaming in the afternoon sun. As they march, everyone in step with their ranks, the sunlight dancing off the deadly tips of the upraised spears belied the severity of the occasion.

The Gunnery: the place where one is equipped to "Fight the Good Fight"
The fields: places where we lead our daily life, training and building our character, discipling mind and body, that we may one day serve our Lord effectively.
The populace of the Kingdom: people who love and serve the Lord
marching in ranks: unity
well-polished armor: fervent dedication to the full Gospel
children and elderly: new/ young christians and those who opted for the acceptable Will of God... they're not left out... but will serve a different role, perhaps inspire the young to greatness through sharing of the goodness of God?

In the micro-sense of the word, take up the full armor of God and defend your faith
In the macro-sense of the word, take up the full armor of God and stand in the gap for all mankind!
