If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now, put foundations under them. – Henry David Thoreau
Very interesting statements and perspective… and it is true I guess, for many of us that, while we are yet young, we have dreams that seems great to us… some of us dream of becoming soldiers, strong and valiant. Others dream of becoming teachers, inspired by those who taught them, so that they can be an inspiration to the next generation.
What is your vision, what is your dream?
Acts 2:17
And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.
We can see that when the Spirit of God fills our lives, the people will prophesy, see visions and dream dreams... What kind of visions, what kind of dreams?
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
The dreams and visions we have from God are for good and not for disaster, to give us a future and a hope. From this we know that we know that God-given dreams are for bettering ourselves and those around us, God will NOT give us dreams or visions for self-destructive activities such as smoking or drinking, or martyring ourselves in "holy wars", but that our activities will bring life and joy to others. It will not be a small calling for you and you alone... more likely, it would be a revelation and direction where you can do more and make a difference in the lives of those in your community, across the nations or even across the world!
Why are dreams and visions important for your life?
Habakkuk 2:2-3
Then the Lord answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
The visions is to be made plain. : Easily understood. Clear and precise.
The one who reads it is to run with it.: Sense of urgency. Run, not walk. Not sprint. Run. It's not a short distance run, but a marathon. There is a beginning and an end. The time will come where all will end. Run! Cover as much ground, reach out to as many, proclaim, shout, declare the Word of God to the world.
Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.
Another version says, without a vision, the people perish.
That means vision gives life to the one who has it. That in times of challenge and difficulty... The vision will give new strength, perseverance to the weary soul.
