late night chat with my sifu
It's been a while chatting with my Sifu.
Spoke on a number of things... people and society... how things have changed since he started business as Rollerline skating school. How relationship with people changed in tune to their own needs, how some can learn from you today... only to go help others against you tomorrow. Life is beautiful, but also it's ugly side.
He liken such people as 'an animal'. For an animal knows neither thought nor human speech, therefore relies upon the charity of others, coming and going as it pleases. A man ought to behave with dignity. Learning from one, thereby a beneficiary of his teachings, one should not then serve under another master, teaching what you have learnt from one school in order to benefit another school. I term that as an act of disloyalty. I do not like to associate with such people.
To be fair... Sifu has always been a pragmatic person ('pratical' would have been a good adjective, except that it is often associated with 'materialistic'). He likes thing simple so that he can make decisions easily... less frustration. This simplicity and it's associated benefits is not usually agreeable with younger folks.
Anyway, Sifu has treated me fairly, as a friend, giving me advice and helping me as much as he can. In return for all his care and concern and i requite that with loyalty. I would suffer no one to speak evil of him before me. Even though i acknowledge the fact that he has his flaws, yet it would be disrespectful to criticise a master before his student (love covers a multitude of sin).
He spoke much with me, how a man ought consider his financial matters and not dwell within emotional desires and needs, how a man ought deal with life according to his stage in life... students have their own concerns, just as a man who starts work should not let his BGR affect his work (reminisce of "when i am a man, i put away childish ways").
He needs help... but am i up to it?
