marriage

Met with an officer from my squadron at the basement of my workplace.

The gracious man was there with his wife and he invited me to join him.

After much hesitation, i joined him.

His wife went off for a while and i asked him on the secret of a happy marriage.

He had been married for 25 years and first met his wife in 1971.
(working backwards... that means 8 years plus 25 years)

He told me:
Shopping time:
Never believe a woman when she says, we're going there, get item xyz and come home.
So always give a generous buffer of timing. But if you really have something on after that, let her know ahead of time.

Enjoyment:
When going for shopping with her, always think of ways to enjoy too. When tired, go for a coffee, whether ahead of her or with her, doesn't matter, relax and enjoy each other's company.

Give and take:
People tend to be more patient, loving, caring, before marriage... and less so after marriage. Try to talk out the differences and always appreciate one another.
