the 3rd week of 2006 Jan

this day i got my prize for running the race.

A duo-tone NLT Bible, and i did give a NLT away previously... sowing and reaping?

Ok, yea... the 3rd week.

It was a breakthrough week. The previous week, Pastor mentioned that the Bible reading deadline was to be extended to 21 January 2006. The Holy Spirit did talk to me about it previously... butthe hard of hearing me thought it was a random thought and brushed it off, thinking i will do it later....

Then Pastor dropped the deadline... 21 January 2006, 12pm (noon time)
CGL asked, who finished and who can finish?
I could not answer... didn't know how much i had left to go.

Then the Lord challenged me... and i was like... i won't go without you.
And after i agreed to go (cos He would go with me), i realised i got HALF A YEAR to cover... talk about panic...

So it all began. Monday, 0430, Tuesday, 0230, Weds 0400, Thurs, 0230 (didn't hit quota), Fri, 0500, carried on from 0830 and finished the last bit with 15 minutes to spare.

The Lord was with me throughout it all. Tired? Yes... almost fell asleep... paced tje room and read, drank water, knelt and read, i did whatever i could... I prayed and asked God often, to clear my mind and help me focus.

And i finished.

Accomplishment and lesson learnt...
1. As i put my mind to it... it can be done... even if it is 54 pages of Bible reading a day (very conservative estimate puts it at 81 chapters every night).

2. Coffee is a good friend of those who burn midnight oil.
(well... except that coffee give me the runs).

3. Discipline is VERY necessary
(E.G. Paul says to run the race in such a way that we win)

4. I do not need as much sleep as i thought i needed

5. i can do 3 chapters aday... it would be so easy (comparatively... trust me on this one).


Now that was over... on to the more important stuff... the spiritual aspect.
1. Spiritual BREAKTHROUGH
2. Closer walk with God
3. Revelation of another aspect of the Holy Spirit. He is the Friend that sticks closer than a brother
4. The Word of Life helps you live life better.
(less cranky than the usual "lack of sleep" max)
5. I can do nothing apart from the Lord. (Frankly... i wouldn't have been able to do it without Him)
6. The revelations along the way...

everyone ought read finish the Bible at least once.
But please try to do it the regular fashion... finish according to schedule. Less stressful!

2006... i wanna memorise Bible verses!!! Sister Guin is my inspiration!
